We Want To Win

A thought hit me recently regarding why the anti-war crowd in this country is so venomous in its attacks. The slanderous statements from the peaceniks go so far out of bounds on this issue, that it seems like it has to be in bounds. How can someone freak out so badly over a non-issue? Let me explain.

First, why is it a non-issue? The war is on. Islamic fascists have attacked this country and threaten to do so again. Several attacks on the homeland have been stopped already. The war will happen whether anyone wishes it away or not. al-Qaeda never promised it would stop attacking America if America left Iraq. Osama orchestrated the murder of 3000 Americans before America attacked Iraq. al-Qaeda is sending jihadists into Iraq. They are getting killed. These people would go to other countries if Iraq were not a high priority for al-Qaeda.

The anti-war crowd is too deep into denial to see reality.

There isn’t a possible Presidential candidate who would leave Iraq. The lessons of Vietnam are still too clear, especially to those relics of the 70’s who are still politicians and are the ones who made it happen. The massacre in Iraq would not be ignored like Vietnam. No serious politician, including Hillary, Obama and even Edwards, could allow genocide via retreat.

There is no reason to get so worked up over the war. It is what it is. I don’t like the Social Security system, but I know it isn’t going away anytime soon, so I don’t skip work to protest about it. I actually don’t do much about it other than assume that it will be dead and gone by the time I need it, so I plan accordingly.

The war is the same. It will last our lifetimes. It will be at least a 30 Year War and maybe a 100 Year War. Both have happened before. The Islamic War will not end soon because there is not a central government to defeat, it is a central philosophy. There are 1.3 billion Muslims in the world. It is going to take a long time to kill most of the bad ones.

The second issue in my opening paragraph was how can someone freak out so much over this non-issue? Fear is the only answer. However, it is fear of several different things. America showing power is against their belief against capitalistic societies. Overthrowing dictators is against their belief of multi-culturalism. All beliefs are valid, even those of thugs like Sadaam Hussein. Mostly, they fear success. It’s one thing to support a system that murdered 100 million people in the last century, it’s another to actively support the enslavement of people who wish to be free, and do so while pretending you believe in human life. The anti-war crowd fears a free Iraq, because it protested so loudly against the possibility.

The people of Iraq are fodder for the anti-war, anti-American, socialists of today’s Democrat party. The Iraqi people can be slaughtered like the South Vietnamese if it advances their political causes. Global Warming is a huge problem, but dead Iraqis, Middle East war, skyrocketing oil prices and a nuclear-armed enemy attempting to strike the United States are not. The temperature 100 years from now is more important than Iran hitting the magic number of 3000 centrifuges this Fall. OK.

This is a complete denial of reality. Using reason with a person who has denied reality long enough, will cause rage. The anti-war crowd reacts with rage because it cannot challenge the reasoning of the pro-war crowd.

“Pro-war” is the last escape hatch of the unreasonable. Abusing language is the best fallacy they can produce after years of denying reality. Pro-war does not mean perpetual war. It is not war-mongering. It is assessing the threat, weighing the options, and kicking ass where required. America did not declare this war. America appeased the enemy in this war for over 20 years. The pro-war side simply recognizes that this enemy is determined to kill people we happen to like and we would prefer the enemy die instead. We all want us to win, because we all want this to be over.

The “war-mongerers” are the ones most anxious to get this thing over with. Preferably, with the fewest casualties. The sooner the better, before another country or two figures out how to build nuclear bombs.

Iraq

Iraq deserved what it got. This is war. Civilian casualties happen. The US and Israel, and most of the Western allies like the Brits and the Aussies, work hard to minimize civilian casualties. No one can argue that these countries try any less hard than any other army at limiting civilian casualties. Name one. (France doesn’t count. They just automatically surrender).

War is hell and this is war. al-Qaeda declared war on the United States of America on September 11th, 2001. However, al-Qaeda does not stand alone its jihad. al-Qaeda is an ally in the Islamic Revolution. The Islamic Revolution gave a formal Declaration of War for the Islamic Revolution against Western Civilization on September 11th, 2001.

Once al-Qaeda attacked America, the war had begun. There had been sniping going on for decades, but there was no formal declaration. The Islamists were measuring their position and adjusting accordingly. The Islamists always knew this would be a terrorist war. They could never equal the Western Powers militarily. However, a terrorist war could beat the West philosophically. Chess was invented in Persia and the Iranians still seem to be masters at it.

The Revolution began with the fall of the Shah in 1979. The United States stood by while its ally was deposed in a coup. The Arabs didn’t care that it was Jimmy Carter, not Ronald Reagan, looking over this mess. The United States was the Great Satan. The United States was feared in the Arab world. The United States was the only reason Israel still existed.

Ayatollah Khomeini’s Revolutionary Guard, in it’s infancy with a young Mahmoud Ahmadenijad as an up-and-coming recruit, planned to take over an embassy. The first plan was to take over the Soviet embassy. The Soviets had launched their aggression against the brothers in Afghanistan. It would be war against the Soviet infidel. However, Khomeini’s advisors convinced him that the Soviets would level Iran and the Revolution would be over. How about the Americans? They’re really pissed about the Shah, they actually gave him asylum, but they will want to negotiate. They won’t do shit. America it is!

The Iranians would love to leave Revolutionary Guard footprints in the Washington Mall, but that isn’t their goal. At least, not this century. They want control of the Middle East. The Iranians want to be the rulers of the Muslim world. This will set the stage for a clash of civilizations, and the Iranians are desperately pursuing it.

The attack on the embassy served two purposes. It showed the Muslim world the strength of the Iranian regime and it showed the West that it could not threaten the Iranians. This did a couple of things. It did indeed show the Muslim world that the Iranians had the balls to do what most of them would not; fuck with America. It also showed the Arab street that the Americans are goddamned tolerate people. The Soviets would have blown the Iranians out of the water. Iran would be a wasteland. The Revolution would be over. The Americans are either very stupid or very tolerant.

Iran and Iraq fought a wicked war that lasted 8 years. It ended in a stalemate with literally millions dead. It was grotesque. Both sides declared victory. Neither side won. It doesn’t matter to the Arab street. If you are still alive, you won. These people are from the 7th Century, keep in mind.

Sadaam attacked Kuwait and overran it in 3 days. He was feared in the Arab world and he positioned his army on the border with the Saudi oilfields. The US built a defense and eventually an offense and kicked Sadaam’s ass out of Kuwait and all the way up to the roads to Baghdad (via the “highway of death”), forcing a surrender, in less than 100 hours. Sadaam proclaimed Victory!

These 7th Century, wife-beating, child-molesting, goat-buggering, death-worshipers*, will believe anything that makes their fantasy come true. These are American Leftists, on OD-level steroids. Sadaam living was a sign of victory for many. Sadaam then gave the finger to the US whenever possible. He eventually kicked the nuclear inspectors out. He wanted a showdown. Sadaam thought the US would blink.

Sorry Sadaam. Not after 9/11. Even one of his sons said “This time, the Americans mean it”. Everybody knows we can beat the shit out of anyone, anytime we want to. Iran couldn’t budge Iraq in 8 years. Sadaam was on the run and his army was dismantled in one month. Iran over-reaches its hand when it says “America can do nothing”.**

Iraq today is nothing less than should be expected. The war is on. The Islamic Revolution has positioned its pieces on the board over the last 30 years. It has known since long before 9/11 that this will be a terrorist war. There is no turning back, only turning points.

Iraq left Sadaam in power after the Gulf War. The Shiite majority that is causing trouble today stood back and took its medicine from Sadaam. The Sunnis they attack today stood back and let Sadaam do what he wants. The Sunnis welcomed al-Qaeda at first, because they opposed the Americans. There are no good guys in Iraq. They should kill each other to their hearts’ delight. Plus, al-Qaeda itself flocks to Iraq to be martyred. Cool.

Iraqi civilian deaths are indeed unfortunate. However, this is the front line of the war of this century. Civilian deaths at Stalingrad were no less unfortunate, but that was the battle that stopped Hitler’s advance.
