Procrastination
“Get up on that hill and kill those Germans first! Then you can have some tea”. - British commander to his troops on the first wave of Normandy.
The Brits were tired after a long sea voyage and wanted to brew some tea on the beach before kicking the Germans off the beach. It’s a natural reaction. We all want to procrastinate.
It’s good to put off something unpleasant for as long as possible, or at least, reasonably affordable. Perhaps a cup of tea isn’t worth one’s life, even if preserving one’s life depends on the unpleasant task of killing others.
Maybe some of the Brits wanted to get killed on the beach. Or at least wounded. Some wanted to say F-YOU to the world, before going off to their possible demise. Some just may have thought that a cup of tea before a few hours of killing people would be a nice transition from the long trip. Regardless, everybody in that particular unit wanted to procrastinate for just a bit.
There is an unpleasant task ahead with Iran. We have been procrastinating for 30 years. Tea time is over. It’s time to get up on the hill.
