The Democrat primaries are both a little interesting and a little scary.

It’s interesting to watch the Democrats destroying each other over issues that don’t matter as far as qualifications for nominating a potential President of the United States. Hillary and Obama are ideological twins. They are both socialists that believe in government solutions to all problems. Both favor taxing the “wealthy”. Both favor government intervention into free markets. Both favor more spending, more regulations and more taxes. Neither differs from the other in any substantive way except for one: Identity. People who want to see a female President support Hillary. People who want to see a black President support Obama. That is the only substantive difference between them.

This would be cute except for the fact that both have bases that are fanatically supportive of their candidate. Each base is fanatical to the point that personal attacks are completely on-limits if it helps their candidate.

If you watch the news you will have noticed that the biggest issues over the last few weeks are Obama’s pastor and Hillary’s lies. Although these actually are important factors in determining a President, there is nothing further discussed. The degree to which Obama hates America is important, but his actual ideas should be brought up in every discussion. They are not. The fact that Hillary lies has been established long ago; dog bites man. Where are the issues of substance?

To any self-respecting socialist, either candidate is wonderful. However, the two bases are fighting to the death. Liberal hate-sites such as the Daily Kos or Huffington Post are full of venom from each side denouncing the other. Why? What would happen if conservative candidates were in the same position?

Let’s say the country was fortunate enough to have a female vs. black from the conservative side of the ideological spectrum. Suppose Ann Coulter was running for President against Thomas Sowell. Both are intellectual giants. Either would be fine for any real conservative. There would be nit-picking over minor differences, but no one who believes in capitalism, the Constitution or liberty would object to either. There would be very little venom. Almost none.

The Democrats are reaching the sad, inevitable, ending to the failed ideology they have come to embrace. Victimology, entitlement, and envy do not lead down the road to freedom and prosperity. It comes down to who is more black, who is more female, or who is more entitled to a position of power. Ideas are damned in the socialistic philosophy of the current Democrat party. It’s all about identity.

I hope for the best for my Democrat friends who have lost their way because American Idol is more interesting than Fox News. However, I hope for the worst for the socialists who created this situation.

I love watching a party that has come to hate its own country implode. But it scares me to see my fellow countrymen in such disarray.

It’s similar to watching Muslims, the ultimate occupant of the intellectual sewer, destroying each other over minor differences. Muslims kill more Muslims than all other religious groups combined. It is indeed interesting to watch Democrats kill Democrats.
