PULL THE TROOPS OUT NOW!!!

Isn’t that what everyone should be screaming? Isn’t Iraq a disaster? Aren’t our troops being slaughtered?

Iraq is in better shape today than at any point under the rule of Sadaam Hussein. There is indeed violence, but it wasn’t exactly Mayberry when Sadaam was in charge.

al-Qaeda sent soldiers into Iraq to fight the Americans. General Petreaus was asked if Iraq was a breeding ground for terrorists. He replied, “Iraq is a burial ground for terrorists”.

The Surge worked. General Petreaus was the architect.

The defeatists at home still nit-pick about benchmarks and other bullshit, but the fact is that violence in Iraq is at a lower level than ever under the rule of Sadaam Hussein.

Sadaam murdered hundreds of thousands of his own people. He is gone and the world is a better place because he is gone. It was a correct decision to invade Iraq and remove Sadaam from power.

The remaining question is how many troops should remain in Iraq? The Green Zone is the safest place in the world. The soldiers defending Baghdad International Airport to the northern suburbs of Baghdad are the best in the world. The Green Zone is invincible. Do we bring these troops home?

The US soldiers in the forward operating bases of Iraq are now serving in support roles, instead of lead roles, for the Iraqi army. The Iraqi army has proven itself capable to take on any direct mission. The Iraqis have never lost a battle. Neither have their teachers.

The troop level in Iraq may be high, but it is working. It seems very likely that less will be required soon. al-Qaeda has gotten its ass kicked and the Iraqis will be able to control them. The Iraq war is won, but as John McCain said, we might still be there for 100 years.

We need a presence in the Middle East. Iraq has turned from an enemy into a friend. The United Nations might be pissed, but this was in the United States best interest.

Check the patriotism of your local war protester at the door.
